Status of Visible Minority Women in Canadian Society

Having worked in social services and reading from the research of visible minority literature and stories, as well as my own life experiences, I came to the awareness that they have their own place in Canadian society. For instance, if there are jobs openings in the labour market, white women will be given the opportunity first despite the qualifications and the English language fluency of women of colour.
The Canadian government has been providing opportunities to skilled workers who are professionals and hoping they will get a job in their field in Canada. When they arrive in Canada , the reality is different for both men and women when the jobs they can get are lower-end and minimum wage, which lowers their standard of living and self-esteem.
This Association will be able to support these women and put their Canadian life experience in perspective for them to understand the difference and confusion they face from day to day. There is no doubt that there are success stories, but after long struggle. We will advocate for their issues and challenges for a better and more diverse society. Everyone is aware that there is structural racism in Canada and it is very difficult for newcomers to pinpoint.
