Promote networking opportunities for Visible Minority & Immigrant women. Engage in social activities and educate them on important issues and their rights. Help women cope and overcome multiple barriers including language, religion, culture, heritage, as they strive to succeed in Canadian Society.
Our approach is rooted in the needs of our clients. To ensure a trust-based client-centric experience between service provider and client, clients will always be kept informed about resources available to them, so they can make autonomous and informed decisions. Our client’s privacy is always paramount, and clients will share personal information if need be upon their choosing and on their time.
Our underlying goal is to provide services without judgment based on socioeconomic status, race, sexual orientation, gender identity, ability, educational background etc. We acknowledge and firmly believe that diversity and inclusion are the strengths of the Canadian economy, and are rooted in the immigration labour force.
Our emphasis is always intersectional and underlies our work. We will support and educate our clients on their rights in Canada understanding woman as being diverse and of many intersecting identities. We function under the premise that everyone is equal and has the right to be treated equally wherever they access services.
We respect that our clients will have a wealth of knowledge rooted in their own personal and professional life experiences to draw from. Case workers working alongside clients will have shared life experiences from which a nonjudgmental and trusting working relationship will be formed. Self care and self awareness will be paramount to the settlement process.
Equality and Equity are synonymous with human rights, social justice and anti-oppression work. We endeavor to ensure our clients are aware about their rights and treated equally and equitably at their workplace and given equal pay as their counter partners.
We provide general information to immigrant women and international students about settling in Victoria, BC. Furthermore, we provide links to community resources and referral services for relevant community organizations.
